It was a huge story at the time. He was widely condemned and when he was convicted a large cheer went up. Humorlessness is an important feature of Puritanism.

If not it isn't hypocrisy.

They are not in favor of free speech. They are only in favor of their own speech. There's a huge difference. None of this was a problem until they themselves were personally threatened by it.

This isn't censorship. It's just disrespect. Ask yourself if they would do the same thing about Mohammed. And if not, why not? Remember when Comedy Central had that episode that featured Mohammed?

Stop pretending that wanting to censor free speech is just a lefty thing.

Cite examples of the right censoring the left. The overwhelming majority of calls for censorship are coming from the left not the right.
