Unless, they fear something. But yeah, if they were right, why censor?

The fundamental purpose behind censorship is the suppression of actual/factual information.

If a message isn't true/factual then it's disinformation.

Censoring disinformation is... I'm actually not sure what that's called.
It could be diabolical 3d chess.

It may not always be used to suppress facts or information it could also be used to suppress harmful ideologies that would not benefit the state

We've been built on so much bullshit from the past century that it is impossible to debate key issues in the public sphere now. Hence, censorship is required. Some views are just "too radical" and dangerous to the public. It's circular and can only get worse until the system is broken.

I kinda go along with the thought process laid out in the OP, but at the same time not entirely; as many people assume censorship is more of a political issue. The censorship is across all forms of self determination, take the search engines for example. I was going to bake some bacon; I've never really remembered the heat, or time, as it's always a finger tip away. Yet now, the search engines suck; so the first several links were basically ads, and click throughs to find the simple time, and temp.

The bacon ain't the point. I do a lot of stuff, a lot of it I use the web to search DIY, or how to; which is imho being buried far faster than most people screaming censorship against the state.

Not saying it's a one way street, but part of the threat to the tyrants is the need for dependent consumers.

The war is over complete dominion, and right now, I'm seeing people across many fronts of life re-engineering the 'planned obsolescence crap' being consumed.

*Edited for clarity.

Sometimes censorship is a good thing particularly for traitors, and degenerates

To be fair 95% of people who cry about censorship got banned cause they are an insufferable idiots.

And also because college kids are really sensitive.
