The guy writing the article is obviously not happy about it, but I'm taking this as a win for sanity on the local level from coast to coast.

To coast. Sorry territories!

Canucks may be nice but they're not stupid. Why would they want to defund police? To pay for slavery reparations? Oh, they didn't have slavery. And besides no point in making modern day people pay for something their ancestors may or may not have been involved with. Logic prevails.

The police don't need more money. The police need to be managed by the community, properly and efficiently without corruption, bottom-up, rather than top down obeying Trudeau.

Poilievre mentioned more funding to police briefly talking about crime during his meet and greet on Saturday. I gave him hell for not addressing the vaccine genocide... https://projex.wiki/wiki/2023-02-11_Pierre_Poilievre_visits_Windsor,_Ontario

RCMP not withstanding, the police are managed by the communities, if you consider a city council to be / represent the community. I know that here in Halifax, there was a Defund The Police™ study with a bunch of community input from the usual intersectional types. I took a read. It had a few good suggestions, but also some talk of seriously reducing the force size altogether. The problem that was not addressed is that last year we had a tit-for-tat killing spree between a couple of gangs in a predominantly black community that seriously spiked our murder rate. I don't know how defunding the cops would have helped that particular situation.

Drew Dilkens, mayor of Windsor, is certainly establishment scum, helping Turdo with his Emergency Measures Act scam. I'm certain all mayors of large cities are controlled.

What they won't address is the reasons desperate people resort to crime.

I can agree with you on that. I have no idea though about how you deal with the problems thoroughly enough to discourage criminal acts end to end. Policing is a stopgap for sure, but I don't see its elimination as advancing harmony within communities.

The crime at the top is worse than petty crime. Deal with corporate crime and society will be more fair, and desperation will subside.
