Histrionic personality disorder

Histrionic personality disorder is characterized by a pattern of excessive attention-seeking behaviors, usually beginning in early childhood. traits include inappropriate seduction and an excessive desire for approval. People diagnosed with the disorder are said to be lively, dramatic and flirtatious. People with HPD have a high desire for attention, make loud and inappropriate appearances, exaggerate their behaviors and emotions, and They may exhibit sexually provocative behavior, express strong emotions with an impressionistic style, and can be easily influenced by others. Associated features include egocentrism, self-indulgence, continuous longing for appreciation, and persistent manipulative behavior to achieve other's attention. If you know someone who always goes "oh my God!!" for literally anything, or someone who tells stories dramatically, he/she may have the disorder.

As some personality disorders are characteristic of men, this one is more common among women. If you find yourself in the clutches of such a woman, Lord help you.

I met a girl who had this disorder and wrote a whole lot of notes about her. I made her take the histrionic personality test and she failed (well, 'passed', she got a high score). I'll try to find my notebook and type out the notes I took. It was really interesting.

Sometimes I believe in personality disorders and sometimes I think they are just giving arseholes an excuse for being arseholes.

this hysteria was often ascribed to women, the cure was to give them an orgasm which many never had before. Now I see they're bringing it back with a slightly different name, histrionic instead of hysteria. Same thing and needs same solution.

IMO, the worst is when a woman who was hot in her 20s and 30s with little else going for her behaves this way into her 40s, desperately seeking attention because she once thrived on it. Meanwhile the less attractive and even "ugly" women have had to use their wits and skills to become the thriving, productive, and compassionate beings with real meaning, purpose, function, and fulfillment.
