While Air Canada argued correct information was available on its website, Rivers said the company did “not explain why the webpage titled ‘Bereavement Travel’ was inherently more trustworthy” than its chatbot.

“There is no reason why Mr Moffatt should know that one section of Air Canada’s webpage is accurate, and another is not,” he wrote.

These chatbots are a crude way to try and replace humans with computers that doesn't work

It's a way to increase net revenues and thus corporate share value, which is the only priority in our system of financialized capitalism. Get rid of as many human workers as possible.

Hopefully it backfires badly, at least until the technology advances and something can be done for the workers affected.
