This is the old school mindset of courting equals intent to marry, regardless of intimacy, and there are consequences of breaking that implied promise.

And yes, the west's obsession with believe all women and demonizing all men has indeed led to blatant abuse of modern cultural laws as well.

Sex under deceitful means or false promises to marry, may be punished with a prison term that can extend up to 10 years.

Fortunately, nobody ever lies about anything while dating.

Do they also have clause to criminalize couples who only marry for tax purposes (though it's the only point of it) or those who don't intend to ever waste time with this marriage thing?

This is how this law work in India, you have being dating a person for 2 years then you decide, she and you just don't fit. Well she can bring you to court, accuse that you promise to marry her true or not don't matter, so court then decide to put you in prison because you have being raping this poor woman for 2 years

This is very scary but i think this happen already in the west in a different way. Example you date a person, this person find out you have multiple partners, high chance there will be payback with a big false rape accusation.
