Very valid question.

I have a couple of questions of my own, albeit rhetorical:

What da fuck is "the NATO left?"

Why would anyone who self-describes as either socialist or left join the uniparty in abusing the term "the left?"

It doesn't matter if you put it in quotes or modify it with something like "fake." If people daily see and hear "the left" used in connection with the wrong side of every issue, it has an impact. And it's not only unnecessary, but obfuscating. (see the first question above)

If you mean Democrats, say Democrats. I prmise the DNC can't have you flogged for it. If you really mean NATO supporters worldwide (doubtful), say that. Same for neoliberals or whomever else you're really intending to sneer at. Leave us leftists aloooone.

I take "NATO left" to mean pro-war right-wingers pretending to be leftists wanting to save and protect people while killing them.

So... Yeah, shitlibs/democrats and it's a stupid term.

I had a similar guess. I'm just tired of having "left" associated in any way with war mongering and other negative things--and, to boot, by those who consider themselves left, economically or otherwise.

Self-defeating, unnecessary and obfuscating. 0 for 3

And those who do it seem to see it as clever snark, despite it's over use, lack of originality or humor and other faults.

Someone, please, make it stop!
