Quite a few finds have changed anthropologists' views of the past. We may never know the truth because of how much evidence has been lost over the ages.

Two posters--or at least two account names-- once actually argued with me over whether the first hominids were xenophobic or not. I asked "How do you know?" I heard nothing further from either of them.

Imagine if hominid (not necessarily homo sapiens) history was far more extensive and weird and wonderful than we're been led to believe by a science establishment afraid of breaking "established" orthodoxy...
