The key is that mom&pop GOP voters are a block - and if they all start to move in a compassionate ie Benefits Corporation style of concern for local economies, to thwart Walmart and bring back a certain really-did-happen "great" American past, well.. that's a force to reckon with.

I wish.

The lockdowns and mass tax fund shifts destroyed huge swaths of small businesses in many States.

Those that survived, well many of them did so on loans of small biz or personal credit types- and the massive inflation and interest rate surge is killing off way too many of the survivors.

Perhaps a few old school smaller cities and towns dominate Red States are having this happen, but emphatically not in Red areas of Blue States or in the Blue cities in Red States.
