When we say America, do we mean the global mafia empire that has to helicopter over the rest of the world kicking everyone else's sandcastles over to protect the oligarchy's racket, or the 330 million people here? The former is going to devour everyone and everything, and salt the earth out of spite for alternatives, and it will do this until and unless it is stopped. The latter have largely been bred and raised into a sick, confused, propagandized culture but have the potential for good if the feds would stop screwing with them.

What will it take to convince Americans to turn their backs on empire and war before it’s too late? When will we conclude that Christ wasn’t joking when He blessed the peacemakers rather than the warmongers?

I wonder what the author expects this to look like. Many Americans are already weary of war while the state operates rogue, and a growing number of Americans fear it's already too late (perhaps William too, judging from the article itself).

^ This. America is and has always been its people, as flawed as we can be. We are not our government, and even those of us who want to know what our government is doing in "our" name aren't always able to because whoever is actually running things behind the placeholders they put on stage do everything they can to make sure we don't know.
