Not seeing irony. Or grass.

No? That's too bad.

I'll smoke it by myself. Let me know if you change your mind.

Didn't know you were offering, but I'll decline gratefully anyway.

It doesn't get me high. No idea why. Two sips of wine will do it, but, then, I go straight to hangover. So I don't drink, either.

I get no kick from champagne.
Mere alcohol doesn't thrill me at all,
So tell me why should it be true
That I get a kick out of you?

Funny you should mention that. Champagne doesn't get me high, but it doesn't give me a hang over, either. And I like the taste. But the same is true of high end soft drinks, which are much less expensive than high end champagne.

I think I saw a film about Cole Porter on TV as a kid It was either about him or had someone playing him as part of a film about something else. BRB. I'm going to do an internet search.

Yes. Night and Day. .

But before I turned that up, I came upon De-Lovely, a more modern biopic. I wish I hadn't found that. If Night and Day had referenced amputation, I'd forgotten. I would have preferred my fuzzy impression of nothing but glamour and wit.

I've never seen Night and Day or De-Lovely. I usually avoid biographic films, as I tend to learn things that cannot be unlearned.

I do like Cole Porter's work. I once saw a terrific stage production of Anything Goes, which includes "I get a kick out of you". But my favorite Cole Porter song is "The Laziest Girl in Town", which I heard sung by an excellent trio of high school girls. The chorus goes:

It's not 'cuz I wouldn't,
It's not 'cus I shouldn't,
And Lord knows it's not 'cuz I couldn't;
It's simply because I'm the laziest girl in town.

All his lyrics are so clever and they seem effortless. Off the top of my head, "You're the Top," and "I'm Always True to You (In My Fashion). I have heard only a small fraction of his songbook, so I don't dare choose a favorite.
