And what could possibly go worng?

How infectious is this? How contagious? Could it wipe out the entire species Felis catus, or worse, the entire genus Felis? (Quite aside from possible zoonotic effects in general!)

Do we really WANT a world without cats?

a world without cats?

It looks like, from a brief glance, that with the feline virus (and the theoretical human variant) that the eggs are not damaged, just the egg delivery systems.

Therefore in-vitro fertilization should still be possible. For felines and for humans.

Anyone who could afford the procedure could still have a child (or kittens).

And so the long-sought goal of Every Child Should Be A Wanted Child is dimly within sight.

(Someone may want to have a second word with that genie before that sight gets any clearer.)
