Many subs are also going private...does that even solve anything??

It was my understanding that the subs are going private as a boycott. If you visit one of the private subs, you get redirected to a page that explains it: https://www.reddit.com/r/SubredditDrama/comments/mbcls0/ongoing_drama_update_rukpolitics_mod_team_release/

what does making the subs go private do to hurt reddit? Does it make their stock plummet? Ads? Just curious because I don't get the angle. Would it make a bigger impact if they all left somewhere else?

I think it's the advertising angle. People can't see ads of they can't see reddit.

I do think it would be a bigger impact if they left reddit, but there aren't ton of safe alternatives.

I hope something comes of this protest. First they censored and deleted SuperStraight, and now 2 weeks later they defend a pedophile apologist on their payroll. Doesn't look good.

https://SSLGBS.com lists alternatives and just opened up a community space to make groups and pages. If you click on the community link you'll see them all.
