For political/cultural discussion, it's basically a leftist circle jerk and anti white male echo chamber. For topics that don't involve American culture or politics, it's still pretty good.

My tactics have changed. I don't use reddit for alternative ideas, but rather as a hunting ground to change one or two minds at a time. I scan posts for easy topics to "snipe", and then post polite/neutral comments that run counter to the circle jerk narrative. The objective is to plat seeds in people's minds, and when they start questioning the narrative, they'll abandon reddit.
