It's a "road". Travelling down the "road" at "high speed" is pretty much what motor vehicles do. TBH, a fucking oxcart would have had trouble avoiding that one the way the kid just ran out into the "road".

In a civilzed world "traveling at high speed down any road" is NOT what vehicles do.

Notice how the cars aren't that fast. There are people on the side of the road, the speed of the bike was too high.

Of course that doesn't excuse a child running around unattended. But safety isn't a one way road about being right.

"High speed", meaning he was probably doing 30mph. I don't care how good you are, if someone literally runs right out in front of you and stops directly in your path, there's not much you are going to be able to do besides hit them.
