A woman enters a room holding a gun as a robber wearing a helmet follows her. The woman aims her gun at the robber and seems to attempt to shoot him, but it looks like the safety of the gun was on. The robber uses this opportunity and shoots her dead.

From my point of view, a person whose last time handling a gun was decades ago (and only a revolver at that), it looked like the woman didn't know how to use a gun. Aside from the strange way she was holding it in front of her, the fact that she seemingly forgot to remove the safety, which prevented her from shooting the robber, got her killed in the end. In my opinion, she doesn't seem like someone who was properly trained on how to use it.

I imagine the lesson here is that if you're gonna use a gun, then you better make sure you're prepared to shoot to kill, otherwise you're gonna be the one who's dead.

I didnt believe she had the gun when she first walked in but she totally did. Her opportunity to counter ambush was as soon as she cleared that corner and he wasnt directly behind her, she waited way too long to draw down on him and she wasted her element of surprise on the draw by half-assing it.

Had a gun but wasnt aware or effective enough to fire effectively, I give her a 3/10

Practice, practice, practice. Range time and weapon knowledge can save your life. She probably had the drop on this thug if she was little more comfortable jerkin' that smokewagon.

Probably because standing your ground is a much less effective tactic than retreat, in nearly all situations.

The only time I've seen someone with a gun get the upper hand on someone else with a gun is by first fooling the armed assailant into thinking they're unarmed, in order to gain an element of surprise. Invariably they're calm and collected bad asses who look like they just stepped out of an 80's action movie. While the asailant is looking the other way, they casually reach for their gun from under their shirt and blow the assailant away all in one smooth motion. Look up "undercover cop in Brazil" and you will find half a dozen such videos. Unfortunately 99% are not badasses.

That seems pretty logical to me. That does not mean you shouldn't carry though. Lawful citizens carrying weapons is the best deterrent for armed robberies and shootings.

So many people buy a gun for protection but fail to train. No train, no gain. Also, one in the chamber and safety off would have given her a chance. But even then, you have to practice aiming.
