Very interesting accident. When I first saw the tires bouncing and they were slowing down, I thought all it could do was just maybe dent vehicles or break glass. I never expected that slow bouncing truck tires still have the ability to actually crush you violently like what happened to the guy in the video. I guess the lesson here is, never trust in your vehicle's ability to shield you from things that can potentially hit you.

If the driver only swerved to the right, maybe the truck's tires would have only damage the back side of his vehicle or maybe it would have missed him and potentially he would have just bumped the car on the right lane a bit. If he slowed down earlier, maybe the tire would have missed him and hit someone else on the left lane. Unfortunately for him, the way he slowed down caused him to stop exactly where the tires were gonna land on him.

That tire easily weighs like 200-250 lbs (~90-115kg). There is a lot of force at play when it comes bouncing like that.

I don't know where the fault ultimately lay, if anywhere, but that being said, you don't really see whole wheels flying off trucks like this in the more developed countries.

When the tire hits the car, you see the brake lights go out for half a second, then come back and stay on, which says his foot came off the pedal briefly, then went back down.
