Thermal blankets are made of mylar: a combination of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen.

Another way to block microwaves: aluminum foil. And another: water.

Or especially: Faraday suits

Aluminum foil is not recommended, because microwaves produce electric current in aluminum foil, the current heats up the foil and this could produce sparks and/or fire.

Faraday suits

I have heard of Faraday cages and they can be grounded.... are Faraday suits grounded?

If the aluminum foil were grounded, the electrical current could pass to ground.

Yes - it's important to ground one's Faraday suit.
