The NYT is controlled by the CIA.

So they try to make it sound good to turn a corrupt country into a anti-human wasteland.
But the CIA is an expert in supporting extremists and criminals, like the "freedom fighters" in Afghanistan.
Probably because they are addicted to their own imported Cocaine or Heroin.
