This was on reddit, my comment. I call BS, A defect detector does the job and it can be heard audio by the engineer and conductor so why would they ignore the dangers knowing it could kill them. My bet is railroad employees is intentionally disregarding inspections to force the railroad into paying higher wedges.
Did you forget the strike they wanted.
