One thing that people constantly fail to recognize is that Liberalism is right wing in terms of a hierarchical obedience to a version of meritocracy in which "experts" are correct. The problem is that this version of meritocracy is based on things like seniority and more recently, minority representation.

It really bit them in the ass with Dr Fauci. He was an extreme narcissist and ideologically bent on his own niche research field. Obama made it illegal for him to do that research and so he secretly outsourced the funding to China. Then when it obviously blew up in his face he just denied everything and acted with extreme arrogance. But because he was a scientist with decades of tenure, liberals ignored his entire house of cards and attacked anyone who pointed out the facts.

Similarly with trans issues, they decided that they would let the minority group itself be the experts for policy. A bunch of AGPs and fetishists got into the DSM review and changed the medical authority definitions of transexualism and removed "gender identity disorder" entirely. The thought process of best practice was basically outsourced and liberals decided that only the "experts" were allowed to have thoughts on the matter.

I've seen similar things with certain family members where if you started to provide an example they would actually tell you to stop talking about it because they didn't want to think about it.

These institutions will likely not want to apologize, they will point out how all the experts told them X for years but now the experts say Y. It isn't their job to question the meritocracy just like it isn't the job of a Christian to explain an obvious contradiction in the Bible.

heh, reminds me of that political cartoon of a Boomer passing his younger self on the road, with the 60s car covered in bumper stickers for peace, free speech, and not trusting big pharma while the 2020s car says "hate speech has no right to life," "nuke Russia," "no jab no job," und so weiter

we have to remember how arbitrary US politics really is--there's no rational reason for Randroids and flat-Earth God-botherers to vote together, no more than there's any reason for Blacks, gays, and Irish-Americans to vote for the other party; that's part of why Trumpism managed to succeed (at least) twice, they couldn't understand what a political reshuffle would even look like, as though 1994's politics would endure forever; that's why TDS hit so many people so hard, and why people cling to SJWism/whatever you want to call it even as it's quite visibly receding
