I really dislike what seems to be the trend of making it seem like these sorts of surgeries are no big deal. I feel like many get convinced by it that it actually will be that easy and aren't properly informed on the horrors of what can go wrong or the lifelong problems they might be left with in that case.

I get that they feel like it's 'worth it' going into it because a lot of them do seem to feel "it's this or I kill myself" not realising it won't be a cure all or thinking about potential years of pain and complications.

I've talked with a couple of youngsters that are of the opinion that one can get pregnant (or impregnate) after transition and are insistent that I'm wrong when it tell them medical science isn't there yet and probably won't be there in their lifetimes either.

That is actually really sad for them. No one should be teaching them that. Like they must've got it from somewhere but a quick google should tell them what's really up.

It's just such an unrealistic view that I can't picture anyone having it without a lot of people telling them that which is terrifying.

I think it's puritanical American attitudes on sex coupled with the realities of modern city life that fully removes kinds from just observing the behavior of the farm animals makes a combination that leaves the kids with just a total ignorance of the topic.
