Fantastic news! Could this be a harbinger of a return to sanity?

I don't really trust anything to be a harbinger of sanity, but at the same time I have a hard time seeing schools amp up queer propaganda even more next year. Public opposition only grows, more GC talking points are leaking through, and the majority of teachers must be fucking exhausted with this fight.

I bet some schools and boards will try to push their indoctrination even further but I'd also bet they're also going to get exposed and embarrassed.

I'll add that this whole thing, the censorship and the nonsensical propaganda, is starting to resemble a much longer-term form of covid lockdowns and mandates. The public is starting to get really fucking tired of it all, even though most are still obeying the mandates (pronoun enforcement) politely. Lots of people still defend covid measures in retrospect, but don't defend those measures currently.

The pendulum swings slowly, but it sure does seem like it’s starting to come back around.

Good comment. It's important to know a lot of people supported the lockdowns because it seemed the right choice, even if there's evidence it won't work now.

It says the “summer reading list for educators” did they change the title of the reading list? Was the list ever intended to be a reading list for children?

I don’t think recommending those shit books to adults is anywhere near as egregious as doing so to children.

I believe they were previously on lists recommended for children.

A couple weeks ago, the National Education Association (NEA) included the (porno)graphic novel, Gender Queer, on its summer reading list for educators.

Looks like it’s a misinterpretation of the intention of the list. The union has simply added an explanatory note because people were jumping to the conclusion that they were recommending books for children and not teachers.

I’m all for calling out shit like putting “Genderqueer” in school libraries, but I think this particular article is misreporting this list as being intended for children when it never was, either wilfully or by mistake.

I’m sure the book has appeared on lists for children, I’m not disputing that, it just doesn’t look like this list was ever for children.

White Fragility by Robin DiAngelo

I believe that there was a study recently showing that any time a company presented any of Robin DeAngelo's seminars it caused an increase in racial tension in the company.

I'm sure asking teachers to read this won't cause any problems at all.

Yeah I'm sure further dividing people is a good thing for society

she literally says she spent her first dinner with a nonwhite couple confessing every racist thing her entire family said, in detail; just imagine, you're at a nice upper-class dinner, maybe you brought some wine, perhaps you're self-conscious, and this rich kid word-vomits a torrent of secondhand racist stuff at you: I hope they used The Voice on her

and honestly I thought they all turned against Guilty White Lady Feminism like her and MacIntosh 2020
