The tracks of high speed trains are too accessible to terrorists and joy-destroyers for my liking.

There are legit security issues that need to be considered. But these can be mitigated. Europe seems to do alright in that area.

One of the things you need to do when building a high speed train is design the whole thing so that the tracks are simply not easily accessible to anyone. If for anything to minimize the risk of collisions with stupid motorists.

Or wildlife, for that matter. Hitting a deer or stray cow at 500kph wouldn't be pretty.

Correct. Usually they build them on large viaducts so that wildlife cannot wander on easily.

Agreed those 'oops' incidents are way too common on open rail lines. High speed rail lines don't often have active security, so are vulnerable to deliberate attack.

A dump truck full of explosives, or even just sand, driven through fencing onto the track. Passenger cars are going to disintegrate at those speeds.

Would be very difficult to drive any vehicle into a viaduct without permission.
