It's like the Kimono shit.

Bunch of 2nd gen ungrateful Chinese bitch American whine about how some fashion exhibit has a kimono and it's racist because it's something only Asians can wear.

Meanwhile the Japanese are all like "look our culture is so cool that even white people want to copy us! Let's sell them more of this shit!"

I collect dolls, and there is a line of collector Bratz dolls wearing kimonos.

The company that makes Bratz are currently doing a 20th anniversary recreation of the Bratz dolls.

The company has confirmed they will not be bringing back the kimono line due to cUlTuRaL aPpRoPriAtaioN

Sorry, Japanese people, your cultural dress does not get celebrated 💅

It's utterly stupid. If you go to Kyoto or wherever you'll see loads of Japanese people and non-japanese people appropriating the fuck out of them and they love it. Especially since there's businesses that rent them out and sell them make a killing.

We must protect the Japanese from culturally appropriating themselves!

I frequent anime conventions, and last year attended a panel about kimonos.

The hosts shared how when they went to Japan, they went to a kimono store, and the little old ladies working there treat you like a fashion doll and dress you up how they see fit. Obviously you get a say, but for the most part, the sanbas treat you like a doll. It's great.
