Lol, but if the therapists had instead validated the delusion, then they suddenly would have known what they're talking about. Just the usual doublethink from troons and their TRA jannisaries.

The autism stuff is so weird. Like we don't know why they're connected. Maybe it's that Autism means you can be more easily lead down the rabbit hole. Maybe it means that your brain is wired weird and you are more likely to be actually trans. Maybe a bit of both.

Not something I'd want to gamble on with the health of a child though, especially if it's a teenager who is likely uncomfortable anyway. Wait and see feels like the best response there.

Even if their brain is wired so they're "actually trans", that doesn't mean that hormone treatements and gender affirming surgerygenital mutiliation are a good idea.

Indeed. Lots of therapy would be preferable but it would be interesting to know if there's a physical cause and what we could do there. Would be cool if we one day get to the point where we can just fix it by zapping the brain and 'rewiring' it.

We do know why they're connected.

It's because autism isn't actually a super power like your mommy told you, it's mental retardation. Retards do stupid shit, that's kind of the definition.

It's not that simple. Autism represents a deviance from normal cognition. That usually involves a number of handicaps dealing with certain things like social skills, intuitively reading other people's non-verbal curs, etc.

Mild cases of autism can result in the "genius" types, but these people usually have simply devoted all their time to studying one specific thing because they don't care about whether or not other people approve of that or not.

Now personally I like keeping some autists around because they do often just have totally off the wall ideas that normal people wouldn't even consider, but whether or not those are good ideas or not, that's hardly certain. Too many autists around though make for disastrous social dynamics though, cause all sorts of problems when you let a bunch of them decide on new social rules amongst themselves that don't work irl.

So it is that simple

No it's not.

Part of the problem is since there is no good understanding of what autism actually is that means the condition is a "spectrum" than ranged from total "retards" that communicate by primal grunting and fail totally to socialize with other humans to otherwise functional adults who simply seem to lack innate empathic abilities.

The autistic genius stereotype is as rare as the genius is in general. People who are regarded as geniuses tend to be weird in a sexual dimension in general as if they were normal they'd direct their efforts towards reproduction as is evolutionarily mandated.

For similar reasons you'll find all sorts of weird ass sexual nonsense from "genius" types, like when Tesla writes about how he wants to castrate himself because women distract him from studying electricity.

I think it's social contagion with the autistic kids. The main post illustrates that well. It's just not exactly the same kind of social contagion as you get with normal kids.

Since autistic kids tend to like similar things (trains for example) their interests will oftentimes conflate. But given that autistic kids are usually anti-social pariahs they don't really find other autistic people with the same interests, then the internet comes along, so that weird kid that was super obsessed with Sonic the hedgehog or whatever is going around trying to search online for stuff finds all the weird bizzare internet porn that exists and it gives to the autistic kid a perfectly logically seeming picture "I like women, therefore I am a woman" coupled with the general mental distress caused by being a social parish going through puberty it will cause many autistic kids to fixate on women through typically autistic patterns such as trying to categorize exactly the differences between men and women are similar to how they categorize the differences between different types of trains. This will put them essentially in the same kind of online spaces as the trans people and they'll all convince each other that transition is the best option. The autistic kids that don't buy it and who consistently tell people that will simply be banned from those spaces.

Groomers tell kids how to lie to psychiatrists to get the diagnosis they want. So either this kid can't follow instructions or his groomers forgot this part. But no worries I'm sure the pRedditers in /MtF will be happy to help and his PM box is undoubtedly full after having made this post.

How you phrase your issues and what symptoms you emphasize can wildly affect the diagnosis. The underlying problem is that our diagnostics are awful.

I wonder if the best bet for the parents right now would be to remove their kid from his normal life for a month or two. No internet, no interaction with any real life kids that might be pushing this with him, no engagement with any school staff that may be pushing it, no media that pushes it, etc. My preteen thinks trans is stupid but at the same time, I'm keeping some money aside just in case he does fall down this rabbit hole as a teenager. I haven't fully thought it through and I'll hopefully never need to but I think taking your kid away on a long trip filled with physical activities could be a really effective way to break the hold the cult has over them.

I went to go look for the comments about the polite TERFs post, but you can't open these subs without stumbling upon the blind leading the blind off a cliff.

If psychiatry only required self-diagnosis, would we still need psychiatrists?

Just diagnose yourself and get your meds from a vending machine.

Like I do think it's difficult because they can't see what's going on in your head. But they're the one with years of training on noticing these cases and treating them.

I am so glad that 3/3 of the therapists got their head on straight! Best news I have seen in quite a while.

If you think you're trans, you're trans.

If you don't think you're trans, you're an egg.

If you think you might be trans but you're not sure, you're an internalized transphobe.

If you thought you were trans but now you know you're not, you were always a Nazi TERF sock puppet.

Queer Theory is so true it literally cannot be falsified!

Ah yes, transgenderism, which depends on having a disorder called gender dysphoria, is the only disorder that demands self-diagnoses. Even medical professionals who disagree are just transphobes.
