They tried to frame the previous first minister with this stuff, and justice only got served because of the jury. It's the stuff of dictatorships.

Yeah Alex Salmond, as much as I couldn’t stand him, was done dirty by the Scottish government really badly. I don’t know enough about the internal machinations inside the SNP but I wonder if it has been infiltrated by a seriously radical left wing fringe that is desperately trying to push a radical progressive agenda or whether it’s just entirely reactionary and it’s going work in opposition to a Tory-led Westminster or some mixture of both.

I don’t recall the SNP being quite so clownish before under Salmond but again, not living in Scotland under their leadership it’s difficult to tell. I have both the clownish Mayor of London and a London Borough Council that has gone bankrupt for the second or third time due to mismanagement on an industrial scale, so I don’t want to cast stones north of the border as if alls hunkydory down here.

The party was infiltrated by the British security services. They use the 'progressive' stuff like queer theory to split the independence movement. Most real supporters of independence have left the party, and have been replaced by the same parasites who would have been on the Labour gravy train if they were still the dominant party.

Nah they lost it when the referendum failed and had to bend over to the greens to stay in power, but they really only got into power because labour shit the bed up here in Scotland.

They are a weird combo between uber lefty progressives and humourless wee free fuckheads.

I don't think we're disagreeing - they 'lost it' when Salmond quit and that charlatan Sturgeon took over. Hand in glove with the British state, that one.

the self-sabotage would definitely come BEFORE the security services were involved: I doubt the 2011 WH could plant enough Obama Youth to get OWS to adopt the "progressive stack" dystopia* that cut at the very concept of solidarity; no agency can keep up with campus fads ahead of time

in the 60s and 70s J. Edgar's goons couldn't even keep up with the Black Nationalist groups turning on each other even while they did everything they could to drown the movement in blood: being political police from like Utah most g-men simply didn't KNOW enough about Black Aryanism or whatever to do anything but throw cash at vendettas that'd been going on for decades

** also a top theory of mine is that Obama's crushing of OWS by literal mounted police is what kicked off the competitive phase of annoying, counterproductive, campus activism--I mean, they were students, they had to protest SOMETHING: but they couldn't march against the guy cremating Yemen or giving trillions to mortgage fraudsters who threw Black families onto the street, so rioting about kimonos was lower-hanging fruit
