According to the bill, the death penalty can be invoked for cases involving “aggravated homosexuality” – a broad term used in the legislation to describe sex acts committed without consent or under duress, against children, people with mental or physical disabilities, by a “serial offender,” or involving incest.

There’s a bit of spin being applied to this.

I disagree with the principle of the law, and it’ll no doubt be struck down like the previous law, but it’s clear that they weren’t planning on executing gay people, just the nonces.

Interesting that the report doesn’t have half the hysteria that surrounded various legislative efforts in the US (Parental Rights in Education) or UK (the veto of Scottish SelfID).

I predict that this law will be blamed on white supremacy and colonialism in about five minutes. Last time they passed this legislation the blame was directed at US-based churches and not the lunatic local politicians.

I've seen a video that blames the Rwandan genocide on European colonists, of course the media will blame this on Europeans, too.

European colonies did shake up the balance of power and could be said to be a contributing factor that allowed the genocide to happen I suppose. But most of the people pushing these ideas hold onto the noble savage fallacy where the Africans were supposedly peaceful tribal kumbaya types who didn't know about war until the white man taught them.

But you see, now the Noble Savage fallacy is woke and acceptable if it can be used to blame White Europeans 😉

The video I watched boiled it down to "the tribes didn't realize they were different until the Europeans came and taught them tall people are superior."

Lol. It all comes across as insufferably racist. It's like "hurr Durr these Africans were too stupid to realize height was a thing until the Europeans came".
