I'm not sure this exactly supports everyone's take on things. Not being able to get out of one's own head and wanting to shut up your own brain is a common issue among addicts. It's why they become addicts.

Maybe instead of booze or heroin or meth, they found cross hormone treatments they hoped would fix them.

Now it's food, and I could have sworn I heard wine mentioned.

Obviously the parents shouldn't have turned their kid into a eunuch, but I suspect there's more to it than simple regret.

Personally I just told my own brain to STFU when I was around 14 and it did what it was told.

That's not the first time I've heard that working for someone. Must be nice. I drank mine into submission. There were some unruly brain cells that had to die. Everything is better without them.
