It's Hollywood ain't it. Filled with insane people with a few sane types peppered around.
Problem with talent and creativity. (Whether she actually has either is debatable but will be left aside at this time). Talent and creativity in acting and the arts usually requires you to have something "wrong" with your brain. Rather you need to be able to think of things other people's won't or haven't thought of. New ideas means abnormal thought patterns. The question then is are you able to channel that weirdness into an actual art while maintaining sanity or will it utterly break you once the money starts flowing in and you are surrounded by yes men.
There's some good fucking Chinese movies out there coming out of a society that has no freedom of speech or the press whatsoever. Those limitations force creative types to adapt.

In Hollywood the main problem is they specifically search out people who will do anything for a role which means you then end up with a lot of people with no boundaries and full blown personality disorders, often they aren't the most creative.
Someone found an article from the 1980s about up and coming stars and basically the only ones who made anything of themselves were the ones who said "I will do anything necessary to give the best performance" in their interviews, people like Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep. That's the one think all those who went on to be successful had in common.
