I will take you to the dark place at the end of this road. You'll get resistance, people will get very angry for you pointing this out, but I don't see how it ends any differently.
In the past we were at "treat the people who are mentally ill be drugging the, removing parts of their brains, what not to try to make them better" problems abounded so instead of merely fixing them we went "give the mentally ill exactly what they want regardless of the long term consequences because if it makes them happy that's all that matters"
It doesn't make them happy. They are still miserable and suicidal.
How long before we make the leap of logic towards simply giving them the suicide option outright? Oh you identify as trans? Well guess you'll be unhappy forever, why not consider suicide.
And if that gets normalized how long before it's no longer optional.
We've been down this road before. Are we really going to go back to the early 20th century German model of mental healthcare. The mentally ill being a burden on society better gassed and buried than treated in an attempt to make them better?

You mean the Germany with the world's first uterus transplant (obviously failed)? The Germany with the extensive trans-research, which the boys in brown later burned? We definitely should not have gone back there, but we surpassed Weimar by a long shot by now.
