It's like the guy thinks societies view of whether or not the guy is female after transition has any bearing on whether or not the guy is actually female.

At some point though I do think we should consider the social attitudes as contributing to the suicide, although not in the way this person is implying. This mentally disturbed person was led to believe that they could change their sex and that it would make them happy, when neither of those things is true. You can't change your sex, and trying to do so won't make you happy.

The real transphobia is letting the mentally ill persist in self-destructive behavior. We don't tell the heroin addict that their lifestyle is to be celebrated and criticize anyone who says anything against it as being smackphobic.

We tell the women who feel they are a bit fat that they should be "happy at any size" and that they don't need to change themselves to fit societies beauty standards. Unless that woman says she feels masculine, then it's all "well time to radically change your body through hormones and surgical intervention" and celebrated.
