“psychological support to help youth live with the healthy body they were born with.”

That’s the most important part of the story. They’re not only banning puberty blockers and hormones, they’re recognising that this whole gender identity issue is a mental health issue and not a “born in the wrong body” issue.

And as it’s Sweden, the cope will have to run deep if anyone is going to claim it’s a far-right plot.

Something something Sweden Democrats fault and they're clearly influencing this I'd bet.

This is what it should be doing.Trying to get people to accept who they were biologically born as instead of feeding the delusions of people who can never be the opposite sex no matter what. It's really odd to me how the gender issue is legit the only issue where we're suppose to believe someone was trapped inside the wrong body.Nobody looks at split personality disorder and claims"It's two people living inside the wrong body."

Largely because psychiatrists were free to doubt the existence of “multiple personalities” and there is still considerable debate around the issue - the spike in diagnoses (sought and given) after the release of the novel and film Sybil is something worth mentioning too (that pesky social contagion issue cropping up again). Had psychiatry treated Gender Dysphoria along similar lines we would not be having the issues we have now, the trouble is they didn’t and they allowed the identitarians to run amok unchallenged.

This is not the first time Sweden has done something sensible that other countries have failed to do. Sweden never had a lockdown - one of the few such cases in the world. I criticise Sweden a lot, but mad respect to them for not mutilating mentally ill teenagers and for not imprisoning their citizens in their own homes.

Basically said mask wearing was kinda pointless too. Only really saw it at Stockholm (at the airport/station). Was really weird to see at first after being used to everyone wearing one where I am.

Super based. My respect for Sweden shot up exponentially in 2020 and 2021. The government did consider vaccine mandates but then abandoned that idea.

Yeah the only thing that I can think of when I was there was stopping some events, but even then saying they 'stopped' them is kind of an exaggeration. From memory is was mostly super reduced capacity for venues which was a bit sad for hockey watching plans lol.

I don't mind reducing capacity for large scale events during pandemics, but they do suck. But at least there were no lockdowns or mandates. That's saner than any other country in the world.

Yeah like it was disappointing but TV exists, not the end of the world. Plus it was a sensible measure, just annoying that they only started that right when I got there. Fun to joke they just didn't want me there.

At least you made it to Sweden just before the rest of the world went to shit.

This was actually about a year in I think. From memory there was a spike at about that time so they did that as a measure. Was not the most fun time to travel though so many extra checks combined with staff shortages was an...interesting experience.

True. Even without the restrictions, life still sucked during the pandemic because everybody was panicking. Even now my parents take antigen tests whenever they get sick and Ireland lifted the last of our covid restrictions last March.
