Reddit grapples with the question. "Why don't trans-men playing in men's sports or raping men in men's bathroom make the news?" The answer of course, must be misogyny.

I love when Reddit asks a question with an obvious answer that you can't give or else you'll get banned from Reddit.

What's interesting is there actually are people giving the obvious answer. Feels like people have been (ever so slightly) less afraid of pointing out the obvious recently

Banning half your user base didn't turn out to be a wise business decision.

Half? It's more like 99%. Because the only people who don't get banned are the top 1%, which is the default mods cabal.

Is this number based on actual data ?
[–]Musky༼ つ ◕‿◕ ༽つ 🐈 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun - 1 year ago (0 children)
No, I don't know what the actual numbers are. A lot of people won't say anything that goes against the groupthink, although it's safe to say the bans weren't good for business. Getting rid of anyone who says dogs aren't really cats, and I really am talking about trannies here, doesn't leave quality people behind.

It is kind of strange, actually. Wonder if maybe it's trickling in from offsite. Reddit's not usually this comfortable being honest.

Reddit activity is considerably lower than it was compared to a few years ago so I think they're following less censorious policies now and reigning in some of the super mods before everyone gets banned. I think it's past the critical point and doomed to fall into obscurity at this point though.

Perhaps. But I won't be surprised if I see them ramp up censorship again for the 2024 election.

I don't believe that Reddit is at all willing to give up censorship. But what I believe the case to be, is quite simple.
Reddit makes money via advertising. Advertisers value their purchase of add space based on how many people will see it.
If there are loads of messages on reddit that are offensive to the average person, or outright abuse behavior towards commenters, then less people will use the site, and this will diminish it's value. So Reddit will naturally censor things like, unwelcome pornography, people saying Hitler was right and that we need to kill all the Jews, or people calling you a FAGGOT Nigger Dike Cunt Square Eyed Fat Republican Whale Whore. All of these sorts of behaviors make the site "less accessible to normies" and therefore spook advertisers.
On the other hand, once you start getting mods in place, who as we know are absolutely the best examples of leadership humanity has to offer, they end up running their subreddits like their own little fiefs and ban anyone and everyone they please based on their own whims. And as they start doing this, people get annoyed and leave, traffic goes down, and the site becomes less attractive to advertisers.
So the key to running any site is finding a balance between dealing with abusive users that turn people off, and reigning in abusive moderators that stifle the site and turn people off. I think reddit leaned too far into the censorship direction and decimated the user base and the admins now are trying to reign in the power mods somewhat before the site dies completely. But I think it's too late as reddit already had a reputation both online and in real life as a cesspool filled with idiots. And most of the new blood is off to other platforms like discord.

Because transsexuality is a mental disorder and people with unstable mental health who are also obsessed with their sexuality are more likely to be rapists.

I’ve noticed that too. It’s not a good look when you constantly lock news threads because most people point out the obvious. Though I’m sure they want to believe that bio men playing in women’s sports, beating the stuffing out of women in MMA, acting like total predators in women’s bathrooms, silencing women, humiliating, berating, and degrading them when they speak up for themselves and their spaces, demanding sexual attraction regardless of their anatomy, and generally acting like awful people… well none of that shit is popular with the majority of people and is likely a major element driving down support of the LGBT community overall, which adversely impacts community members who are also sick to death of these repulsive clowns hijacking the cultural conversation.
I know that I’m sick of it. And I’m a pretty laid back guy, okay with people’s quirks and foibles for the most part. But I’m seriously not okay with guys who think that they can toss on an ill fitting dress, soak themselves in poorly applied makeup, and then selfishly hogging the mic to bellow about “misogyny and women’s issues,” and dictate to the rest of us how we must treat them and say, Emily Blunt, the exact same way because of some as yet undefinable definition of what constitutes a woman. But most of us already know. I think many of us are even down to be polite to people on a person to person level, providing that they too, treat us with respect. But to think that we’re going to just turn off our humanity, biological, emotional, and sexual, to cater to their changing whims, to “validate” their mental health issues, and to be responsible for their ridiculous expectations for their emotional “safety” by only ever exalting their every desire and never expressing a contrary perspective… that just isn’t going to happen. People will just go out of their way to avoid a walking train wreck, rather than end up walking on eggshells for a relationship that is nearly completely one sided.

Because they hate men, so they'll jump at the chance to say men getting raped isn't a big deal or even that they deserve it.

Many times this is the intended goal. To locate the dissenters and ban them.
