If the majority of trans people know that the surgical penis/vagina is nothing like a biological one,why are 97% happy with getting surgery then?

Interesting. It sounds like you got some experience with it?

So how does one counteract this? All I can do is to be a friend and give a listening ear, I guess.

it's the lead a horse to water thing. you can't really help people who won't help themselves. the best thing you can do is encourage them to get therapy, and then hope the therapist is good enough to get them to confront their ego. but mental change is hard, hard as physical change. is it any wonder why people prefer to believe the world revolves around them?
