Monty makes a lot more sense when you take into account that it's all projection. Just reverse everything he says to make it about him and his own insecurities

I'm becoming more and more convinced that Eddie Izzard is just doing a really long bit. Four years from now he's going to go "You actually went along with it, you fucking idiots. Joke's on you!" Or he's just lost his mind, who knows
