She's experiencing the confusion that those in the fold first experience when they realize the fold has ejected them and branded them a heretic.

You spend years demonizing everyone outside the fold as the enemy while most are ambivalent. Your true enemy is therefore the cast as the masked evildoers, the thieves in the night who steal the sheep and throw stones at you by day laughing. But you are told everyone outside the pen is the enemy. When you are cast you you rightfully say, I am not your enemy, your real enemy is there, why aren't you fighting them, and they will not listen. Because they know that everyone who is outside of the fold is the enemy including now you.

The enemy has their own fold, they will not welcome you, you must live in the cold darkness of the outside until you realize that true freedom comes with the risk of danger, and that while there is safety in the fold from some of the outside dangers, there is no freedom, and the shepherd loves his sheep because they are his raiment and eventually dinner.

She is still bleating outside the fold shocked at this turn of events. Survival outside the fold comes down to grit and independence enough to break the ways of thinking she has been taught. Or to wallow in self pity wondering how something bad could happen to a "good person".

Karma is not real in the sense that it is a punishment from heaven. Karma is the irony of a blind man walking into a wall because he is told there is no wall. It is the failure of one to see their own situation. And is brought about by the hubris of man to think that he must be right when he doesn't understand why that is or why his enemies are wrong.
