That's only a culture shock if you're completely ignorant. As she's female she's a complete idiot for not knowing that's a thing when as a woman she'd've grown up with all the warnings about men. Same with the kinship thing, hello where have you been? Whenever men express emotions or affection they get called gay.

If you are unaware of this you literally live under a rock with no interaction with humans ever.
