My mother knew a few trannies when I was a kid and they were all very good humoured and sociable. I wonder though if that's something doctors looked for when approving transition. Back then they likely turned down anyone without the mental strength to be ridiculed or would become isolated. Their strictness was one of the reasons the trans lobby created a backlash against gatekeeping.
