I've been travelling abroad (Switzerland) recently and not a single person's wearing a mask in airports, flights, lifts, malls, anything indoor or outdoor. As soon as the plane takes off from SG all staffs drop off their masks as well as travelers. Even elderly people don't bother.
If you wear a mask in Europe people are just looking at you weirdly like you're some sort of caveman or survivalist not connected to the news or the world lol.. so you just stop thinking about wearing one very quickly.
We're clearly living in a parallel world in SG with our masks under the sun or in MRT. It's like living in middle age without any connection to science. Just pure obscurantism. The contrast is staggering with other cities. I guess tourists want to relax in holidays and SG just provides you with anxious vibes with these masks all over the city. You just get a negative value coming here.
Also, I've read this today: 'as of 1 August 2022 all entry requirements related to covid travel to Malaysia have now been removed regardless of vaccination status (still have to use MySejahtera app but it's no longer required to fill in the travel pass to verify your vaccine status)'
I understand SG knows better science than Malaysia, Australia, South Korea, Thailand or Europe which have dropped these mandates, but isn't it time to align ourselves with international standards?
It's like officials want to be in a forever pandemic with all these outdated policies and communication. It brings a toxic atmosphere to SG and I'm quite worried that these stuff are just destroying the SG brand and its attractiveness. I believe officials should take a break to travel a little bit over the world to see what's happening elsewhere and bring back a fresh new way of thinking.
