That's a good idea, but given the far-left views of the hosting company, I fear none is actually needed, as the host will shut the site down if our speech is TOO free.

No. It is unlikely there will ever be a .onion address, in the past Saidit admins have mentioned that they have a low opinion of Tor in general (e.g. they think it is compromised, not worthwhile, etc) so I don't see them ever going through the trouble of maintaining a .onion address.
