Why is this called "restricted" if I can see this on my front page?

Because it's a restricted sub. You can't post, only comment ;) A restricted sub is visible and accessible for all users (and comments) but to post content (aka, be the OP) that is something you can't do unless you're a approved submitter.

Hmm I dunno, I don't think so, I you have a restricted sub I will be able to help test it. look trough the settings i suppose.
