I've never understood this. Even though I'm far from mediocre, I don't understand how or why some people are not-offended by being considered "average" in anything in life. Such as "average looking" (ugly), "average height" (short/weak), or "having an average life" (boring.)
To me, "average" is literally the most offensive thing a human being can be. Objectively valueless, insignificant, extremely replaceable, highly disposable, worthless, and so on. The last thing I'd want to be in life is "common and valueless." And yet, people out there are fine with calling THEMSELVES such horrendous and highly offensive things with the term "average." It makes me cringe even thinking about it.
I get that these people are ambitiousless and don't want to actually do anything in life (which if untrue, would be the polar opposite of "average:" being meaningful and unique), but at the same time, it's also admitting they do not matter, either. How do people not get bothered by that?
Everyone thinks their life matters, but at the same time, some are willing to tell three themselves and the world it doesn't matter either, when they refer themselves as an "average" anything. "Average" deserves no respect and no worth from anyone, because it has none by its very existence. It's the most meaningless, valueless, and replaceable thing a human life can possibly be.
I've never been mediocre or thought of myself as valueless, even at my worst. And I think no one else should ever think of themselves in such a way either, as a statistically worthless life form. You don't have to be valuable or special at everything to no longer be average; just one thing. Be an exceptional worker, or an exceptional parent, or an exceptional friend, or an exceptional artist, or an exceptional student, or whatever. You can choose what you want to matter as, in life. That's the beauty of it.
I'm not talking about fame or popularity; I'm referring to value, good deeds, and leaving a positive impact on those around you. Instead of just "pointlessly existing." Be worthwhile at least at ONE THING in life, instead of just a useless parasite taking up resources and contributing literally nothing to society and the people around you. THAT is what average is to me; a useless flesh bag that exists and adds nothing of value to the world. Even the disliked of society; the criminals, bullies, and jerks of the world add more value with their negativity than someone who's "just there existing, but does nothing for anyone."
I've never understood this "I exist, so I have value, even though I'm saying I don't" midset of mediocrity and uselessness some people have. Cause one of my greatest regrets and biggest fears in life would to exist as such as being.
Can someone out there explain why anyone would want to be, or call themselves, a 'useless, insignificant, and extremely replaceable being that doesn't matter' (average)?
there doesn't seem to be anything here
