The smartest and best person Trump could pick to bridge the gap with centrist voters is Tulsi Gabbard, who's basically an Independent. Not only did the Democrats screw her over to the point of disavowing (modern day) liberalism, but she's legitimate presidential material. Since the left seems to operate on divisiveness and fear,
Trump should run on a platform of cooperation, for the good of everyone (who isn't a radical leftist) and his new campaign slogan should be "Make America United Again." Trump could argue he's not the best person at building bridges at times, but Tulsi is and can help benefit every American, whether they currently like Trump or currently dislike him.
This would also extend an olive branch to those who may despise Biden, but aren't sold on Trump yet. Tulsi Gabbard is a brilliant woman and just as against the left's woke ideology as any conservative. Not to mention, centrist voters can look at her and say, "I may not agree with everything Trump says and does, but hopefully she can help reign him in check and stop him from going too crazy." They would see Tulsi as a voice of reason to counter-balance Trump's wild energy. That would be their perception, at least.
Part of the reason Trump won in 2016 is due to his positivity and energy opposed to the left's negativity and mudslinging. Trump doesn't need to convince conservatives to vote for him; he needs to win over centrists and what better way to do that than with an actual competent, strong, intelligent VP that both conservatives and liberals like in Tulsi Gabbard and with a message of positivity and unity (to an extent) in uniting America again while the left wants to tear us apart. How can you lose with a message like that?
So yes. Trump needs to bridge the gap with centrist voters and get enough votes that it'll be impossible for the Democrats to cheat this time. Why they to win 51% of the votes with someone like Vivek or Noem, when you can get 75% of the votes with someone like Tulsi Gabbard? Trump can always assign conservative VP candidates to his cabinet later on. But he needs to win over the huge silent centrist demographic (one I'm a part of, although I plan on voting for Trump anyway) and Tulsi Gabbard is the smartest choice he could possibly make as his VP pick.
All this assuming the Democrats don't rig the election again, which they most certainly will.
