This may not be a good show to make reference to on a feminist sub, sorry.
But I saw this episode recently and thought a lot of it resembled rape culture. Where the serial killer to me represents a man who abuses women. The apathy and hostility of the locals represents abuse of and blaming of the victim. https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6q64hi Season 2 episodes 1 and 2. Especially at the moments around 25:10 of season 2.
In these episodes, the Bundies go on a vacation to a hotel in a small town. There they hear of a serial killer. Then they find out the serial killer is coming after them. The Locals are so apathetic about it, that even during a chase scene directly in front of the locals, the locals continue playing cards like nothing is happening. The locals have also been staring at the Bundies strangely the whole time during their stay.
When the killer comes after the family again, he holds Peggy hostage in a hotel room. Al comes to save her, then another chase scene occurs and ends with Al punching the killer in defense.
A police officer then arrives in the room, followed by a whole group of locals. They reveal that this serial killer is actually a man who they fawn over, as a community. They coddle the killer and ask him if he's ok, hoping their poor special guy was not hurt too badly by his terrible victims. And they give the Bundies an angry intimidation stare (angry at Al for punching him.)
there doesn't seem to be anything here
