I agree, I understand how the cops' ROE determined they'd shoot the guy. I certainly wouldn't want to have been near him. Cops aren't there to keep the fight even, they're there to control the situation and end it.

They could've backed up a couple feet instead of killing the guy. There were many other ways to handle the situation that would not have resulted in a death.
