Saw this post on FB...Why do guys gang up on things that women tend to like a lot? Pumpkin spice lattes, yoga, inspirational quotes...tapestries? Why do they make them the butt of a joke instead of trying to see what we see in these things? Of course, lack of empathy.

A popular rhetoric is that women have become too loud, brazen, rough and radical (lol), yet they shit all over the softer things women are attracted to. There is no winning.

It serves men to dismiss the humanity and validity of the female experience so they don't have to reckon with what they've done/perpetuate to the other half of the human species. Systematic invalidation is one of the biggest obstacles all women face their entire lives.

Eh, I see it as men's impotent reaction to women's (righteous) disdain of mens interests [shit/fart jokes=funny NOT, 4+ hour sports viewing=important RATHER LEARN OR DO SOMETHING PRODUCTIVE, etc] Just need enough experience, a/o be clued in on it, to scoff at men's uselessness.

Because anything "feminine" = bad and useless. Things that used to be manly and important turned pathetic and unimportant once women started getting into it. If women started getting into carpentry, men would start making fun of it.

On spinster this girl told me about these Eastern gods. The goddess had traits like aggression dominance and power, while the god was passive and peaceful. Normally the traits of that god are considered feminine and weak, but in this case since it was the trait of the male, he was preferred by them. Normally dominance and power is considered masculine and good, but again in this case it was feminine and therefore not favored.

It doesn't matter what it is. If it's related to us it's spoiled by association.

Spot on. It's so obvious that when you see men shitting on female dominated fandoms/communities while ignoring/praising the male dominated ones.

Funnily enough I don't like the 'typical things' that women do, but I also for some reason don't have a need to put women down for liking them. You can also frequently see that the guys who make fun of women for liking basic things are basic themselves.

Are tapestries a basic bitch thing now? That's odd to me. That doesn't really seem to fit with the yoga pant/PSL/'live laugh love' aesthetic. Don't mean to detract from your overall point lol, agree completely and am also annoyed by it...but tapestries??
