Pure histrionics. How does upholding Title IX punish lesbians, gays, or bisexuals? It doesn't. Nor does upholding Title IX punish TransIdentifyPersons. It states SEX segregated facilities and activities exist, and should exist, for a reason: SEX is a class which has been, and is being, used for oppression and harassment.

Single-sex spaces: it’s not all about the toilets - uncancelled by [deleted] in GenderCritical

[–]forwardback 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

And yet I wonder how far the people who parrot this phrase (TWAW) with such conviction are prepared to accept the consequences. One easy way to assess this is to pose the question devised by Helen Staniland: “Do you believe that male-sexed people should have the right to undress and shower in a communal changing room with teenage girls?”

Curiously, people who become very energised about the right of male-sexed people to use female toilets don’t like this question very much and try to avoid answering it. But it gets to the heart of the issue about single-sex spaces: do we believe a man is a woman because he says he is? Or is there something more fundamental about what makes a woman a woman?

Still pissed at the hypocrisy of men can threaten women anytime in anyway, but women can't post a fantasy, born of frustration, imagining a world in reverse. (edit. Searched definitions, edited/correctly worded per definitions.)

Men denied history, AGAIN. (Maybe, we should also add evidence of sourced history books and research papers concerning women's treatment/status in societies and cultures before those items are erased. Authors, publisher, date published, etc. Do this before can no longer be found.)

Wow. May Judge Lady Wise be wise! My reading of this article, Scottish Government arguments are as circular, nonsensical, and lie-based as any other TRA rhetoric.

"It is nothing to do with the demarcation between trans women and women. It is for the very limited purpose of including persons with protected characteristics in non executive posts on Scottish public boards. <snip>

In a pigs eye, limited use!

To define women as including TW for

a legal obligation to ensure public boards had memberships which were representative of society.

while admitting TW are < 1% of population, and that

No less intrusive measure could be used and a fair balance has been struck.

Let's look at the legal advances for women Moon's loathed grey-hairs made in the US:

1963 The Equal Pay Act passes, requiring equal wages for women and men doing equal work. It is the first federal law prohibiting sex discrimination.

1964 The Federal Civil Rights Act passes, including Title VII, which guarantees equal opportunity in employment. Title VII is the statutory basis not only for equal opportunity and sex discrimination cases, but, as a subset of the latter, sexual harassment cases as well. The Civil Rights Act creates the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission to enforce workplace equality.

1972 The Supreme Court upholds the right to use birth control by unmarried couples. (SC ruled married couples had this right in 1965, 1960 was first FDA approval of BC pill)

1973 * college scholarships offered to female athletes for the first time

1972 Title IX of the Education Amendments Act passes, guaranteeing equal access to academic and athletic resources regardless of sex

Jan. 22, 1973: In its landmark 7-2 Roe v. Wade decision, the U.S. Supreme Court declares that the Constitution protects a woman’s legal right to an abortion. Also in 1973: The Supreme Court, in a separate ruling, bans sex-segregated "help wanted" advertising. (Yes, this was a thing! Help Wanted, Man and Help Wanted, Woman separate columns!)

1974 – Housing discrimination on the basis of sex and credit discrimination against women are outlawed by Congress. (I purchased my own house and property as a single woman thanks to this historic legislation!) 1974 The first shelter in the U.S. for battered women opens in St. Paul, Minnesota. By the mid-1990's, there are over 1,000 such shelters nationwide, but with very limited bedspace and funding. Facilities located in large cities report that they may have to turn away as many as 70% of the women who seek temporary respite from violence in their own homes.

1975 – The Supreme Court denies states the right to exclude women from juries.

1978 The Pregnancy Discrimination Act becomes federal law, recognizing that discrimination on the basis of pregnancy is discrimination on the basis of sex. The PDA guarantees pregnant women who are capable of working the right to do so, identical to employees with other, but similar, medical conditions. The Act also mandates that employers provide the same benefits to women at any stage of pregnancy, delivery, or recovery from delivery when they are medically unable to work as to all other employees with temporarily disabling conditions. It also forbids workplace discrimination against women based on the mere possibility of pregnancy.

1986 The U.S. Supreme Court holds in Meritor Savings Bank v. Vinson that sexual harassment creating a hostile or abusive work environment, even without economic loss for the person being harassed, is in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

1993 The Family & Medical Leave Act becomes law, based on the research and policy initiatives prepared by the Women's Law and Public Policy Fellowship class of 1985-86.

And let's not mention the social changes, like girls and women wearing slacks or jeans in school or out in public or at work, as one example (1970s). Or five player full court basketball rather than the 6on6 version I grew up with. Little things you take for granted.

But screw them old broads, right? Grey-haired Radfems, who needs em, huh?

Judge:

“I accept that had it not been for the alleged victim in this case there probably wouldn’t have been an incident. The four of you then were subjected to extremely offensive transphobic and racial abuse. Had it not been for that there would have been no violent disorder. 1. However that does not excuse what you did, you went far too far in your reactions, but of course transphobic issues are particularly sensitive. It is a sign that the so-called victim realised how wrong he was by refusing to cooperate and not make any statement. I do not in any way condone your behaviour but I accept that what happened to you at the beginning of the incident was entirely wrong and people like you should not be subject to that abuse in the public domain or anywhere. You are being punished for your overreaction to someone who has escaped punishment altogether.“2

I still haven't figured out how these young women believe they'll retain women's right to abortion when women are no longer legally considered as a separate (sex) class. People (penis-havers) will be the ultimate arbiters of if, who, and when an abortion may be performed. And, more likely than not, it will be to the mans advantage. I fear women will lose their voices, and likely their own agency, in such personal matters. Cause women's voices have been dismissed, and outright banned, in many instances, especially this GC issue. But, I've had to listen to misogynistic declarations for decades. It's MRA, IMO.

Edit. Yeah I know sex is partially defined as pregnancy in the Act, but is abortion addressed? What is not specified is open to interpretation. Wouldn't a male "mother" also have a say in pregnancy termination? Or retention? I bet that'd be a lobbying point next.

I also remember changes made in my lifetime, in the US. Young women should NOT take for granted!

I remember playing 6on6 women's basketball;

1970 five player full court game adopted for women's basketball

1972 The Supreme Court upholds the right to use birth control by unmarried couples. (SC ruled married couples had this right in 1965, 1960 was first FDA approval of BC pill)

1973 * college scholarships offered to female athletes for the first time

(I purchased my own house and property as a single woman thanks to this historic legislation!)

1975 – The Supreme Court denies states the right to exclude women from juries.

1981 – Sandra Day O'Connor becomes first woman to serve on the Supreme Court.

Please, understand, I am coming from a place of being intensely frustrated.

Where are the male violence statistics?. I've been spending time daily over the last week to find a citation clearly stating those figures. I've found articles using those figures, yet no footnotes, no data analysis given. "Perpetrators" is the obscuring terminology; since >90% of rapists are men, now people are being "inclusive" by not using the word men? Appearance is that studies since 2011 focus on "But women assault and rape, too" "men victimized by women". Most articles speak of victims. Searched for -percentage of male perpetrators of rape- and variations. I've been through dozens of pages of search results. Racial break downs are easy to find. Victim demographics are easy to find. Perpetrators by sex with cited data? Have you a cited reference? I've encountered a UK data site that claims to sort perps by "gender", but I'm in US, and not eager run down what may be a foreign gov data rabbit hole, especially on mobile device.

So many people on social media assume severe criticism to be "hate speech" nowadays, I did not wish to presume whether or not you were one of those persons. Geez, can't even try to be nice to some people by naming one's own frustrations.

Update from Saidit main page, Dec 28, 2020 (Anzibase)

Yuri Tolochko, the famous Kazakhstani bodybuilder who married his silicone girlfriend, has come out to reveal his doll wife is bow broken just days before they planned to celebrate the holidays and she needs to be repaired.

In a recent interview, Tolochko explained that his new wife has been sent away to another city to be repaired after she became “broken” shortly before their first Christmas as a married couple.

The revelation comes just weeks after they officially married, one year after the bodybuilder proposed to the sex doll, who he calls Margo.

He told British tabloid the Daily Star that when she comes back from repairs in January 7, which is when Christmas is celebrated in Kazakhstan, it would be "a gift for both" of them.

He also added that their relationship has recently become more private unlike before when he usually posted about their relationship on Instagram.

“After the wedding, I decided to show her less to people,” Tolochko said. “I forbade her from Instagram. I did this a long time ago. Maybe I'm being too selfish.”

He added, “But that's the beauty of Margo, that I can do this to her and she won't mind.”

He also revealed he intends to spend the special day at home with Margo ordering “steaks and sushi.”

https://www.pbs.org/wnet/amanpour-and-company/video/december-25-2020-qpxnyz/

BJK, who helped found the WTA, has some odd blind spot concerning men's tendency to colonize and diminish women. Note, Andy Murray stating some men would rather NOT see a raise at all, than have a raise equally for the sexes! Anyone see as much as a flicker on BJK's face? My impression is BJK is for herself first, then tennis. Women? (Nothing inherently wrong with that stance, if true, but people should be cautious.)

It was only the earliest of 1970s that elite women tennis players began to see prizes > 20% of men's.

https://www.wtatennis.com/about

https://www.tennis.com/pro-game/2015/02/1970-womens-tour-begins/54184/

From the PBS transcript: (Amanpour to Andy Murray, his response)

  • On that cha-ching note, Andy Murray, certainly some in the male world in men's tennis are concerned that they wouldn't get as maybe as much cha-ching, so to speak.

Do you see any struggle from other men in your sport to try to get this done?

And except 'cause you want to see it done.

  • Yeah, I mean, yeah, definitely.

There's some some potential for that.

I mean, I've had some times conversations in the past, when there's been prize money increases within the sport where let's say the fresh round losers check has gone from the man that went from like 8,000 to $10,000.

And the women's went from $6,000 to $10,000.

And I spoke to some of the male players about that who were unhappy because the prize money was equal.

And I said, 'Well, would you rather, 'there was no increase at all?'

And, they said to me, 'Yeah, actually.'

And I was like, 'Well, that's some of the sort 'of the mentalities that you're working with 'in these discussions 'where someone would actually rather make less money 'just so they're not an on an equal footing 'with some of the female players.'

So there will be some challenges.

But look, I think, when you have, obviously a lot of the top male players now starting to discuss it and talk about it, that's definitely very promising.

But I think it's really important, I think, in these negotiations that when it comes to the sort of key decision makers right now in tennis, pretty much all of them are men.

And I think that when these discussions happen, it's quite important not just to see this merger through like a man's eyes and to bring more women into the decision making positions, so that everybody's voice gets heard and everybody gets protected in these discussions.

The dude is more sensitive to women's issues than BJK.

"Women must be silenced. Chastise them NOW!". Daaaad!!!!!......

See, this is why women want to speak amongst themselves, to have their own spaces; there's always some dude who has to break in and condemn our speech according to mens own understanding of men, I'm referring to the fragile ego moid who projected men's own propensities onto women in the comments to this post.

Because THEY KNOW there are men who will act out their vile imaginings. Like the OPs (now deleted) text pointed out, it's male humans who commit violence predominantly. So very few women enact physical violence WITHOUT THE DIRECT INFLUENCE/COERCION BY A MAN, that those male versus female stats are buried- it's common knowledge and an inconvenient truth to males.

While it's great fun for men to drag on women, Women cannot be allowed to express frustration or disagreement with their lived interactions with men. Too dangerous! Women might say "No" to men - and that's the "violence" men may encounter from women in actuality, not enslavement or beatings, and men KNOW that. Well, so do PPFers.

I echo your response to the hand waving about this issue by many on Ovarit. Why do some young women, many of whom claim to be feminists, fail to even search the net before being so willing to place men's interests and partisan politics over the protection of such foundationally important legislation?

Barbara Winslow, historian and teacher at Brooklyn College, eloquently described what life was like for young women before Title IX:

“Young women were not admitted into many colleges and universities, athletic scholarships for women were rare, and math and science was a realm reserved for boys. Girls square danced instead of playing sports, studied home economics instead of training for “male-oriented” (read: higher-paying) trades. Girls could become teachers and nurses, but not doctors or principals; women rarely were awarded tenure and even more rarely appointed college presidents. There was no such thing as sexual harassment because “boys will be boys,” after all, and if a student got pregnant, her formal education ended. Graduate professional schools openly discriminated against women.”

Egads! I'm flummoxed this post hasn't more activity. As an American, I've been following the English women and the GRA. Seemed to me, their forwarding concerns were the transitioning and indoctrination of children and self ID. This is self ID to the max!

Haven't we repeatedly read warnings of regulatory, political, and common practice capture by the Woke? Well, this is the more brazen and dangerous version come to the US!

Anytime an important, in this case economic, institution offers to self-regulate, suspicion should be raised. History has sucessfully been hand-waved away... Terrifying.

Agreed. 1981, MTV started. Conceptual videos, story-telling, or featured the band. (Admittedly, sexism frequent). Early '90s, the slide down the slope (rap influence) gained speed. I remember Sir Mix-a-lot's "Baby Got Back" - catchy tune that broke out of rap, into the general, section of MTV, for example, and the "dam was broke."

In a Monday press release, Nasdaq announced that it had “filed a proposal with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to adopt new listing rules related to board diversity and disclosure.”

Still time for a flurry of letters to protest these changes??!!

The rules would require the companies to “publicly disclose consistent, transparent diversity statistics regarding their board of directors” and require the Nasdaq-listed companies to have “at least two diverse directors” or provide an explanation as to why they do not. Criteria for a “diverse” director includes hiring an individual “who self-identifies as either an underrepresented minority or LGBTQ” and another who “self-identifies as female.” There is no mention of hiring a biological female, meaning the role could, hypothetically, go to a transgender woman — a biological male who merely identifies as a woman — and still meet the diversity requirement...

(Formatting is my own.)

So, now all diversity is proposed to be based on self-ID. Great for people like Elizabeth Warren and other transracialists, as well as the "I'm a heterosexual queer" folx, et al, who'll be using this claptrap to justify their "diverse" board.

Is this affirmative action in order to reduce T unemployment? /s Sort of, but only for the rich and want-to-be-even-more powerful.

Just when I think I've imagined the absolute worst path to happen...

I am so sorry for the young!

Edit. Matters not the source, as long as meets both criteria: 1- true and factual, and 2- information we ought/need to know. Thank you!

Think about it: going braless/topless in public, being porn stars and prostitutes

Wow. You're conflating going bra less with pornography? Breasts are part of the human body. The problem is the overwhelming sexualization of women's breasts, not whether or not they're restrained (or presented in a male-gaze-appropriate position, stating as an old woman).

Yea, I know, GTFO and GTH to be directed at me, but I've wondered if the ever-increasing ageism, in tandem with sexism, media (including social), and female socialization, brought us to this sick point.

My eyebrow raised at the chant "Don't trust anyone over the age of 30" when I was a preteen in the US in the 1960's. That was just marginalization of yet another group in my eyes. We're critters of biology and evolution; we pass along knowledge verbally and in writing. Breaking the interactions between the generations, has, for many, IMO, led to youth having to "reinvent the wheel" in many areas, especially in regards to women's hard-learned lessons about men. (And haven't we learned by now that opportunistic males will do anything to disadvantage women? "Don't listen to her!"). A portion of the population are idiots, a portion are geniuses, most are schlubs just doing the best they can, but almost all have experiences they can recount as warnings. Women in the past, who were, in effect, owned by, or, at least, were dependent upon men, learned, knew, and spoke "the score" louder and more frequently than women today, in my experience. Because they lived in oppression. My grandaunt, born well before the turn of the century, spent many years as a brothel whore. Her assessment of men was similar in content and intensity to her (married-young and for a long time) female relatives; cynical, mocking, biting, fierce, and sad. Unfortunately, bodily functions and intimate health details were not discussed, but wariness of men was.

Young women have a wealth of potentially self-protective information, both at their fingertips, and for the asking, though who knows for how long with censorship ramping up.

Not sorry, but I've long had this disdain for narcissistic young women who bought into the 3rd wave feminism, ever since its start; willful ignorance, coupled with believing men rather than women - not a great life strategy, IMO.

Reminds me of: "Men marry women hoping they will never change, but they invariably do."

This sad woman-substitute will change too, eventually. Whether by physical degradation/abuse, or, "she'll" become just another (slur) in his f*d up mind when he tires of "her".

Scary how very few men can handle reality; so many permanently latch onto their own private worldview and insist on a reality to fit it. Dude's comments about "her" are revealing.

Great article and website!

Interesting this: "When I emailed Andrea a first draft of this article for comment, she explained:"

I read the whole premise of your introduction as being that the discussion needed to be of an appropriate and agreeable tone, meaning (I assumed) that if someone said the GC view was transphobic that would immediately be rejected as ‘not playing by the rules’ of the conversational contract. That is why I consider the invitation to be far from neutral, but to involve you dictating to the other side of the debate what they are allowed to express. Apparently, it is not “OK” in a civilised debate for me to say I believe a view to be transphobic. That doesn’t sound like open and fair discussion to me.

Wow. I'm not speechless, however, I will refrain from inflicting my invectives here.

The brashness of recent moves by MRAs (of all types) reveal these attacks on women won't be fading away, won't be ending any time soon.

Women before us fought hard to gain us the rights to have the choice to live independently from men, from voting rights, independent access to financial/banking services, property and wealth rights, and reproductive choices, etc. All coming at risk.

And men aren't just promoting these threats amongst themselves over beers - they've commandeered political organizations (including those created by and for women) in order to remove women's voices, our own words and political impact.

These men who insist on controlling women won't stop, all women are at risk.

I've taken a couple days, and have turned to reread the post and this particular thread. I stll have issue with

There's a reason why doctors are extremely hesitant to sterilize young women even those who are over the age of consent. Even for women with severe endometriosis (aka a non-healthy body part) there are huge risks to consider.

The commenter brought these issues up (young women over the age of consent having their decisions questioned or denied, and endometriosis).

I do not find a possible (I was questioning, hence my comment, rather than assuming) midset of 'young women over the age of consent can't make good life affecting decisions' much better than the TRA's fallacy that transgender minors can and should make life altering decisions on their own.

If this is not the place for questioning, challenges, or debates, no problem.

Like you, I found issue with a commenter's single sentence.

I hoped the commenter would clarify whether 's/he believed young (people over the age of consent) may make poor life-time decisions, or whether "young women over the age of consent" make poor decisions particularly. Women can display misogyny, also. I made no judgement about male choice. I brought up the male sterilization issue to suss out whether sexism was involved.

No thanks for the lecture. I don't need mansplaining.

There's a reason why doctors are extremely hesitant to sterilize young women even those who are over the age of consent.

Whoa, hold the phone! This is a Very Bad Not an analogy. You are focusing solely on "young women". Vasectomies on young men are a non-issue for you? You're not implying young women over the age of consent are particularly stupid concerning their reproductive choices, are you? That would be a very sexist thing to do. I submit women's current problems obtaining tubal ligation are a function of increasing misogyny. I had NO problem obtaining one in 1983. And women suffering from endometriosis deserve treatment with informed consent, they don't deserve the brush off that too many have experienced.

Edit2. In the same comment you state:

If you get your parent's consent or wait till you're a day over the legal age and go nuts, that's your own problem. It's a medical ethics problem, but its your (or your parents, or a malpractice lawyer's) responsibility.

Your logic, as presented, seems inconsistent to me.

Pequeen is also accused of aiming his gun at his male roommate and demanding his cellphone while threatening him, according to an arrest report obtained by The Ledger.
