One of the reasons that Gone With the Wind has so far survived complete cancellation is because it is wildly popular with black Southern women. They identify STRONGLY with Scarlett O’Hara, who they see as a Strong Black Woman who happens to be white.

I've not read the book but I've always viewed Scarlet as an out and out psychopath.

To me that's why it can't be cancelled because rather than being a sweet nostalgic romance as many people assume it's actually an antihero surviving through a corrupt dystopia disintegrating around her.
