keanu isn't a great actor but he did learn to do fight scenes pretty well and they had good scenes in his john wick movies. They also had good fight scenes in the original matrix movie. Seemingly not in this new one now. Lawrence Fishburn and Hugo Weaving must have taken a look at the script and said hell no.

Yeah, good fight scenes. But as an actor he's so empty and vapid, it's easy for the viewer to identify with him. Because he has very few distinct qualities beyond "whoa...".

I really think he gets work because he's a good guy and is easy to work with and not because the audience can identify with him or particularly appreciates him as an actor.

Except for my mum who fancies him.

If that was enough then bad people that's hard to work with wouldn't get any jobs in Hollywood.

that's like how Arnold was perfect for playing a cyborg.

In T2 perhaps, but I think it's more of a uncanny valley/creature effect in the first one. I don't discuss the fan projects that came after the Terminator Duology.

yeah the first was more a horror movie than an action movie, altho the T2 had a bit of that too just with the T1000 character instead.
